Synopsis

Set in the 1830's, THE CAMPBELLS is the dramatic saga of a family's love for one another in the face of danger from almost every side. Frustrated with local political upheaval, Dr. James Campbell desires a chance to start over. His sons, Neil and John, also dissatisfied with their current, mundane lives, decide to emigrate from Scotland to Canada upon hearing of the opportunity to own land in Canada and persuade him to make the move. Emma, James' daughter, is equally unhappy and likes the idea as well.

Their strong family ties and newfound self-reliance help them overcome Indians, wild animals, a fierce climate and even rugged fellow settlers. As THE CAMPBELLS step into pioneer life, they bring their audience along. And the result is a weekly half hour of robust family entertainment. Based on the classic novel by Captain Marryat, SETTLERS IN CANADA. Shot in the wilds of Scotland and Canada.
